This position assists in the performance of calibration of electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment to technical specifications, maintaining traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)Metrology Technician 1 independently determines and performs operations to calibrate and certify electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipmentThey utilize calibration methods and techniques to analyze equipment problems and meet accuracy and precision requirementsThey identify error sources and diagnose and repair malfunctions in complex measuring and test equipment using theories of operation, block diagrams, schematics, logic trees, and software diagnosticsKey
Responsibilities:
MET TECH I performs one or a combination of typical duties, such as:
Conducting repairs to the component level and replacement of electronic components and/or partsTroubleshooting, operating, installing, repairing, testing, and calibrating electronic, mechanical and/or specialized test equipmentTroubleshooting electronic and mechanical equipment to the component level, as well as demonstrating the ability to repair complex electronic and electromechanical assemblies to the component levelOperating oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and General-Purpose Electronic Test Equipment (GPETE)Performing repairs of TMDE such as Frequency Counters, Oscilloscopes, Microwave Equipment, Multimeters, Generators and Specialized Avionics Test Equipment, such as TACAN Test Set (T/S), Radar T/S, Transponder T/S, Weapons T/S as well as Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systemsUsing commercial and Navy documentation schematics, wiring diagrams, Instrument Calibration Procedures (ICPs) and technical service manuals (NAVAIR drawing and publications) to troubleshoot test equipment to board and component levelProviding required technical support to programs including, but not limited to, technical support services, logistics, information technology, software, test and evaluationKnowledge of technical engineering concepts, principles, and practices necessary to perform the full range of projects concerned with producing, overhauling, refurbishing, or redesigning systems such as GPETE and ATE systems or other combat or combat support systemsUse tools such as screwdrivers manual and battery operated, soldering equipment soldering irons, solder extractors, drills, pliers, wrenches, etcQualifications Minimum
Qualifications Education:
High School diploma (or equivalent) and 2 years of industry trade school or civilian college in electronics is requiredCompletion of an appropriate military A school and completion of at least one appropriate military B or C school may be substituted for the two-year requirement
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of current, relevant experience in CalibrationKnowledge of function and troubleshooting of Naval Aviation Support Equipment such as AN/ARM-156 Radio Test Set, AN/UPM-155 Indicator Test Set, AN/AMW-96 Weapons Test Set, 1383AS200-1 Propeller Synchronizer Test Set, AN/ALM-283 Countermeasures Test Set, AN/ASM-663 TACAN Test Set, and AN/APM-403 Radar Altimeter Test Set is highly preferredOther Requirements:
An active DoD Secret clearance U.
SCitizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system Ability to visually inspect, count, segregate, and store incoming calibration standards and equipmentMust be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Experience:
Experience with USN Surface or Subsurface systems (desired)Experience with ISO9001:
