Job Description:
This position will provide helpdesk and desk side support to 150 users and their associated peripheral equipment at the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach, CA. Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of the systems to ensure near 100% uptime, optimal performance, and system security protection. This is a stand-alone technical support position at this site and reports to the IT Manager located at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Corona in Norco, CA as a part of a larger IT support team.
Duties include:
Responds to trouble calls, emails, and personal requests for technical support.
Provides second tier desk side support to users for system, software, and peripheral equipment problems that could not be resolved over the phone.
Responds to hardware, software, and network problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques.
Troubleshoots, identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems.
Interacts with network services, software systems engineering, and or applications development personnel to restore service and/or identify and correct the core problem.
Documents, tracks, and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
Performs analysis and review of systems and makes recommendations for system enhancements, upgrades, and patches.
Provides asset management support for all computer equipment to include inventory, recycling, and disposal.
Regularly communicates status to IT Manager.
Job Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of related experience.
Must have experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues with desktop and lap top systems as well as a variety of associated software and peripheral equipment.
Must have working knowledge of and technical support experience with Microsoft Windows 7 and XP, and Microsoft Office.
Must be proactive and a self-starter and be able to work with minimal guidance.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Must be able to work with personnel at all levels of the organization.
Must be able to climb ladders and under furniture as well as squat and kneel to support installation and troubleshooting requirements.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs.
Must have Security+ certification and Operating System certification or training.
NMCI and NMCI Enterprise Tool (NET) experience is a plus.
Hewitt-Packard (HP) Service Manager (HPSM) experience is a plus.
A+ experience and certification is a plus.
Microsoft Office 2010 experience is a plus.
Adobe Acrobat X Pro experience is a plus.
Requires an active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain an interim clearance before start date.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
