Chief Mechanic

The Boeing Company is seeking a Chief Mechanic in Seal Beach, CA. This position is located in Seal Beach Customer Support organization working directly to support the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) in-service and production programs and aligned with the Fleet Chiefs Office and other Customer Support organizations.
  • The Chief Mechanics within the Chief Mechanics Office are fleet aligned technical experts on aircraft maintainability, operational challenges and efficiencies, along with technical performance standards including dispatch reliability, availability, and maintenance costs.
  • The Chief Mechanics are chartered to provide Boeing Commercial Airplanes and our customers with a consistent approach to airplane maintenance philosophies and operational practices. This approach will ensure personal safety along with airplane maintainability, reliability and operational standards are developed and adopted during airplane development and throughout the lifecycle of the Airplane Programs. This will ensure Boeing is consistently aligned with customer s needs and that supporting products and services are tailored to suit customer s and Boeing s requirements, while also meeting regulatory requirements.
  • The Chief Mechanics Office is also chartered to champion the research and development of new maintenance technologies to enhance competitive advantage for both the Boeing Co. and our customers.
  • The Chief Mechanic will be an experienced aircraft maintenance professional who is the leading aircraft maintenance advocate. This requires extensive aircraft system, structural, and operational knowledge of Boeing aircraft in the commercial aviation industry. Strong communication and critical thinking are essential skills in order to emphasize aircraft maintenance and reliability are key elements in the design and support of Boeing aircraft.
  • The Chief Mechanic must demonstrate technical excellence and persuasive qualities necessary to effectively influence diverse audiences and must work closely with airline maintenance organizations to develop positive working relationships.
  • The Chief Mechanic must be highly conversant in aircraft maintenance and operational practices to earn the credibility of aviation experts throughout the aviation industry. In addition, the Chief Mechanic will interface directly with various Boeing technical organizations throughout its entire life cycle.
  • The Chief Mechanic will possess the expertise to work effectively with all organizations including but not limited to; flight operations, executive management, sales, engineering, training, manufacturing, program management, fleet support, finance, contracts, and marketing functions.
  • The Chief Mechanic will travel for work 50% of the time.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C. F. R. 120. 15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree Required
  • A Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant License is Required
  • Experience supporting operational aircraft
  • Experience with aircraft production systems
  • Experience with Airline Operations

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Engineering Degree Preferred

Typical Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and typically 10 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 8 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
